Inceptio Completes Major Delivery of Autonomous Heavy-Duty Trucks to Huatai Logistics
2024-05-03
Inceptio Technology (“Inceptio,” or “the Company”), an industry leading developer of autonomous-driving technologies for heavy-duty trucks, recently completed a major delivery of autonomous heavy-duty trucks to Huatai Logistics (“Huatai”), a contract logistics company specializing in the transportation of automotive parts.
Huatai has built up its fleet by adding 40 Inceptio-powered autonomous trucks since the beginning of this year. These trucks have been deployed across major line-haul logistics routes in Eastern, Central, and Southwest China setting a new standard for Huatai’s customers in terms of autonomous-driving freight services. The auto parts industry has never seen such a large deployment of autonomous heavy-duty trucks before, marking a major step forward for the commercialization of autonomous driving technology in line-haul logistics sector.
The delivered trucks are Dongfeng Tianlong 6x4-axle models pre-loaded with Inceptio Autonomous Driving System which features LiDAR, millimeter-wave automotive radar, cameras, and a computing platform. Leveraging industry-leading algorithms for perception, planning and control, and fuel efficiency, the system enables hub-to-hub autonomous driving on complex routes and seamlessly integrates functionalities like adaptive cruise control, nudge, automated lane change, and autonomous overtaking. Beyond improving efficiency, Inceptio prioritizes safety with features like automatic emergency braking, safety driver monitoring, and seat vibration alerts.
Inceptio’s robust trove of operational data gathered in real-time has demonstrated how autonomous heavy-duty trucks provide logistics companies such as Huatai with considerable safety benefits, a significant reduction in labor costs, and increased efficiency. On routes that average 1,500 kilometers, Huatai has seen its driver-to-truck ratio decrease from two to one and fuel consumption decrease by 3-5 liters per 100 kilometers. This results in total cost of ownership per kilometer decreasing by 7-15%. The stellar safety record and enhanced driving comfort offered by autonomous trucks improved fleet-attendance rates significantly and increased monthly kilometers per truck by as much as 10%.
Inceptio's autonomous-driving technology prioritizes driver safety and ensures on-time deliveries with the versatility to cater to the diverse needs of Huatai’s customers. This translates into a significant competitive advantage for Huatai, driving its rapid, healthy, and sustainable growth.
Julian Ma, founder and CEO of Inceptio Technology, commented, “The impact our technology is having on the logistics industry is profound as the deployment of autonomous trucks rapidly scales. The benefits our solutions offer with safer, more efficient, and profitable operations, are equally as strong for contract logistics operators like Huatai or the largest express delivery companies. With the number of Inceptio-powered autonomous trucks on the road growing exponentially, the operational data we are gathering will help us further iterate our algorithms and offer even greater benefits to the industry. Having just surpassed our 100 million-kilometer milestone for safe commercial operations, we are eager to show how our technologies are ready to be adopted more widely around the globe.”
About Inceptio Technology
Inceptio Technology is an industry leading developer of autonomous driving technologies for heavy-duty trucks. Its flagship technology is the Inceptio Autonomous Driving System, a proprietary full-stack solution. Inceptio partnered with leading OEMs to roll out the industry’s first serial production L3 autonomous trucks in late 2021. These trucks are operated nationwide in China by customers across the line-haul logistics sector including express delivery, less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation, and contract logistics. Inceptio is at the cutting edge of developing fully driverless trucks. In 2022 it became the first company in China to receive a public road-testing permit for driverless autonomous heavy-duty trucks.
